I have a WD Elements external drive and the micro usb connector is broke. My main concern is retrieving date from the drive. I have removed it from the enclosure and directly connected it to SATA internally. Partitions are completely not shown.
As I understand it the PCB on the elements is faking 4k when the drive is 512 sectors. However the drive is not encrypted. So I am attempting data recovery but will this work due to the sectors?
Does anyone know a enclosure that would work with these drives that does the 4k ann 512 that would work with the firmware? Or is there another way of cloning and messing with the img file? I guess I could attempt to solder but buying some sort of usb dock would be preferred.
