Bought 2 new 12 TB WD Red Pro discs to insert into a casing that I originally had two 10TB discs in. When I go to format in Disc Utility, they only show up as two separate discs, not as one 24TB drive like my original 24TB Graid did

I bought 2 new 12 TB WD Red Pro disc inserts (24TB drive) to replace two 10TB discs (20TB drive) I had. I needed to back up a 3rd GRaid 24TB drive and the 20Tb wasn’t cutting it. I only bought the inserts though and not the casing, because I thought I could reuse the original casing from the 20TB drive. When I went to format the new 24TB drive in Disc Utility, they show up as two separate 12TB discs, not as one 24TB drive like my original 24TB Graid did when I went to format it. What am I doing wrong? I was going to try and backup tonight but looks like I need some answers first…
