Backup Strategy

Hi - I am an old guy struggling with this whole concept of backup strategies.  Basically, I have one 1TB drive on my computer where I store my seldom changed data.  I bought two 2TB MyBook Live’s and put one on the network, set the software to backup the drive where I store my data.  My plan was to swap the second My Book Live onto the network and set it up exactly like the first drive.  I planned to swap these drives about every two weeks and to keep the offline drive in a fire-resistant safe outside the house.

Will this work or is there something else I need to do with the backup software.  When I swap in the offline drive, will the software recognize that the backup is two weeks old?

Is there a better way?

Thanks in advance - Tom

they should be recognized, as far as I know.
