Backup Mac outside home network

I just got the My Cloud EX2 for Christmas and have been trying to find a way I can backup my MacBook Air to it from outside my home network because I am only at my house about the time the other half I am traveling and I would like to still have a backup being completed even when I am not home.
From what I have seen there is no easy way to do this using WD software but is there any way to do this with 3rd party apps, FTP, or something that someone has found to do this.

Hello,

Through WD standards procedures that’s not possible. Perhaps, using FTP you might be able to do that.

Let’s see if any of the users can share some information about it.
