Backup Failed

So not that this is critical at all but This morning I got a Backup Failed on the LCD. So the automatic backup on the one computer I have connected to it right now (A windows 10 machine) failed apparently. So a search here and I thought I needed the UEFI hotfix (Thanks Gramps BTW)… still a no go. More digging around, searching the web, and I found some references to looking in the event viewer and sure enough every time a backup is attempted I get a Event ID 10016:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

and APPID

to the user MyWind10\username SID (S-1-5-21-1728205411-3122565076-3509544708-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost_10.0.18362.449_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy SID (S-1-15-2-155514346-2573954481-755741238-1654018636-1233331829-3075935687-2861478708). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Did all the steps on-line to give “Immersive Shell” the right permissions and still no joy.

Uninstalled the connector software, rebooted, installed, no joy.

Oh Well not really critical to me if there is not an easy solution, I was just going to use it with shared folders. Is there a way to have the connector installed, but disable the auto-backup so I don’t keep getting the error? (Assuming there is no easy fix that is)

In the dashboard computers you can easily disable backup

Not sure where you found the error, but in the event log on the client pc there is a specific section for the backups that usually is helpful.

That said most client backups are “fixed” by running chkdsk/f/r

oh, when you install the hotfix, reinstall the connector, you have to do windows update on the client PC and there should be a new update to fix it

and reboot the client a couple of times
