Backup error

I had sucessfully set up the my cloud device 2 days ago only to receive the following message on time machine:

The backup disk image “/Volumes/TimeMachineBackup-1/Gordon’s iMac.sparsebundle” is already in use.

I have connected as the registered user rather than guest but that didnt seem to be a problem when i did my first successful backup.  Prior to this error I’d received an error suggestion an AFP issue.

can someone please help?

Restart the NAS. That should clear up this issue

I constanly get this error - i followed your advice. However, if i have to reboot the device daily what else my be causing this constant error? I would like to find out what i did wrong or find a way to fix this and make it work better than my hardwired Backup.

The first thing to do is to make sure that the share containing the backup is properly ejected after usage, and that it is not used or shared with another computer.

Also note you don’t need to mount that share to have time machine use it.
