Backup data on the nas to a usb-drive connected to the nas automatically

hi!

first, sorry for my bad english!

i’ve got a wd mybook world 2gb (white light) with 1 hdd.

i want to backup data stored on the nas to a usb-drive that is connected to the nas automatically.

is this possible, if yes how?

i just found how to backup from a windows pc to the nas.

but all my pictures and user-files are stored on the nas and not on a windows pc, so that its possible to access these files from each pc.

because the nas has just 1 hdd i’d like to backup → automatically → to a usb-drive connected to the nas.

It is possible, just Google a software able to copy files from one NAS network share to another one.

i just found some howto’s for hacking the nas.

is there a way without hacking it?

the software you’re talking about, is it running on the nas or on a windows pc on the network?

i’d like the nas to do the backup by itself.

Well… If the software is automatic, even if installed on Windows it should copy the files by itself o.o
