Welcome to the forums.

I really hate AVI containers – have you tried remuxing this with MKVMerge (you’ll need to use version 4.0 or earlier, or turn off header compression in the audio and video layers)?

I don’t want to do this. WD should fix out of sync problems.

Maybe you misunderstood me – I’m not saying it is or isn’t a problem with that file. I just want to see if putting the file in a proper container fixes the issue.

If it doesn’t then we can explore further what the problem is. But, if you don’t want to solve the problem, I guess it’s up to you.

Do you have any idea how far out of sync they are?

I do see that the container thinks that the MP3 track is shorter than the Video, by a second. I’m thinking they ought to be IDENTICAL, but I’m no XviD guru…

at the beginning about 500ms to 1000ms at the end 2000ms.

Oh, yipes, now that I look at it the frame rate is 25 – that’s also very weird.

Overall I’d say the video is munged – how did you create it?

Video ahead of Audio , or vice versa?

What I’m wondering is if the WDTV is ignoring the Preload info in the XVid. If so, you can just remove it.

I did not create this file: In Germany everything is in 25fps.

25p is the norm for PAL.

I will convert these files with TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress using divx codec, I think.

I’ve yet to see an AVI out of sync. Instead of recoding try remuxing with Alexander Noes AVIMux-GUI which could fix this.
