Audio problems

Hi guys,

I’m running into a problem with my WD live. It won’t play audio from certain movies I add, I added 10 movies yesterday, it will play the audio for some of them, but other movies just don’t have audio.

The movies I added have a mixture of AC3 and DTS, but I have multiple movies with AC3 & DTS which all play fine.

When I test the files on my computer they all have sound and I have the latest firmware installed.

Anyone got an idea where the problem could be?

Post the text output of MediaInfo for a file that doesn’t work.

Here you go

* just to let you know, I pass the movies through mkvmerge first to mux the subtitles. But I do this with all my movies so I don’t think this is the problem.

The new mkvmerge will have this problem with audio – use an older version of it and you should be fine (or uncheck the compressed audio header in the options when you mux).

(See http://community.wdc.com/t5/General-Discussions/Problem-with-WD-TV-live-and-mkv-files-that-have-been-muxed-with/td-p/32142 )

As far as I can see the OP is using the old MKVmerge.

June 21st is the old version?  Wow, I guess the new version came out *very* quickly after that (like, um, a week or so?)

  • 03 Jul 2010: Released v4.1.1.
  • 01 Jul 2010: Released v4.1.0.
  • 05 Jun 2010: Released v4.0.0.

So, the header compression started July 1.  :)

And I’m still using the February 12th version – works fine for me .
