Asterisk after file extensions...help!

I have an asterisk after every file name on the Passport, and thus, I can’t open the file. Is it a virus? HELP please!

Hi,

It may be a virus but it can also be file encryption. So I recommend you to verify and confirm if the files stored on the drive were previously encrypted.
