Hello Forum,

in our vmware environment we are using NFS as shared storage for the VMs. The NFS Servers are located in a separate physical Network, to which the ESXI Servers and the Arkeia Server are connected. When backing up the the VMs i see that all traffic flows over the LAN connection between ESXI host and Arkeia Backup-Server. so the SAN transport mode is not used here. Arkeia documentation describes the SAN transport mode only regarding FiberChannel and iScsi. Does anyone use SAN transport with NFS?

SAN is a block level protocol.

NFS is a file level protocol.

SAN over NFS is not possible so the SAN Transport Mode cannot be used with an NFS setup.

IE: LAN Free over NFS is not possible.
