Why does a workstation have to always login when accessing the Public Folder in the WD SmartWare? We need to do unattended backups using Norton Ghost which makes logging in impossible. Any light you can shed on this would be most appreciated. Michael
I can only respond in general terms, but it must surely be a permissions problem. Is the ShareSpace part of the same Workgroup? (I’m presuming a SOHO environment).
Can we assume that you’ve configured the users correctly in the ShareSpace’s admin interface. Maybe check the Advanced > Users > Folders Permissions to see if something’s being blocked there.
If all that fails, SSH into the Sharespace and , as su, chmod the required directory to 777. That should fix it.
