Allow WDTV to remain in OFF state when power source is introduced?

The WDTV player does not have a hard power-switch on the device.

I turn off my AC mains every night.

Whenever I turn back on the AC mains, the WDTV player will turn on automatically.

Is there a way to let the WDTV player remain in the OFF state whenever the AC mains has been turned on?

Press off button on remote for 6 seconds, this does a full shutdown of the SMP.
