Accidentally deleted WD Elements 2TB from time machine

I just bought a WD Elements 2TB external hard drive and received it literally today. It has nothing on it, but I went to replace my old external drive in Time Machine, and accidentally erased the new drive, and now my Mac says the “The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.”

What do I do?

Don’t panic. Go to Disk Utility and select the ‘new’ drive from the left-panel. Then go to Erase tab and form,at the drive with APFS/ MacOS Journaled. Once done, you can start using this drive.
