Accessing files on my HDD via wi-fi

Hello,

I am sure this question has already been answered so if you could just steer me in the right direction!

I have ordered a WDTV Live player to replace my WDTV HD Player Gen 2. I have a combined ADSL modem/router with wi-fi  connected to my PC with a 5 mb line from my provider.

Rather than carry my HDD(s) down to plug into the USB port on the player each time, can I play a file on VLC on my PC and stream it down to the WDTV player via wi-fi? (also to avoid issues with header compression on certain MKV files).

If yes, how do I go about connecting everything up? And do I need a USB wi-fi key for the player?

Thanks very much in advance!

No.

And by the way, none of the Live products have issues with Header Compression.

OK thanks.
