Hi Sir Tim

After I installed this http://www.userdrivers.com/RAID-HD-Controller/WD-SmartWare-Essential-Elite-Apollo-1607E-Firmware-Updater-1-032/ my WD 1tb drive is not turning on. do you have any idea what happened? there is no problem installing your firmaware but my external wont work anymore.

I have a WD SE elements (yeah, its an old model that I haven’t used for years but it is very important to me) that’s also having the same issue showing up as"initio default controller" under windows device manager. I tried the firmware update APOLLO utility but get the same error as Jamie_Smith. Please help.

It works. I can’t believe it I have wd my book essential 1 tb. About 3 years I updated in middle the updates stopped. And I searched the internet a lot and saw your topic.
