Some months ago, I removed the harddisk from My Book because I needed it as an internal drive in my pc. Now I want to get my empty MyBook setup again with a brand new 4TB harddisk. I cannot figure out how to initialize the My Book at all. (Windows Disk Management ends up with I/O Error when trying to initialize it).
I remember the My Book was functioning properly with the original disk before I removed it. Is there some kind of protection in the electronics or some marriage wth the original disk drive? Who can help me to get this to a factory reset state with my functioning new disk?

Not sure if this will work as the firmware information on those units might be different.
Are you using the same model number as the drive you took out.
