My new 5TB Passport for MAC disconnects at random times and loses visibility in Finder and Time Machine. I get the following Time Machine message. “The backup disk is not in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format, which is required.” I can disconnect the disk and reconnect and it works fine until the next disconnect event. I ran all the diagnostic tests and they were successful. I can copy files to the disk and Time Machine has a complete backup. It is just annoying for the thing to disconnect all the time. I am running Catilina 10.15.4. Thoughts?
Hi,
It is recommended to avoid USB hubs and directly connect the drive to USB port of computer. You could try a different USB cable, a different USB port and if possible a different computer to connect the drive to isolate the issue.
