500 BG SATA hardrive not showing in windows xp

Hello

I have just gotten an old DELL dimension 9200 PC and added my old harddrives (internal) to it. They show in bios but not in windows ( xp home edition sp3). Both drives are exactly the same and none are showing. As the problem is the smae with both drives I am pretty sure the drives are working fine.

Anyone have an idea what is wrong and how to fix it (or is it simply because dell computers are the worst overpriced ****** on Earth? :P)

By Any chance did you verified the jumpers settings?

How is the SATA controller configured in BIOS?

Are the drives behind a RAID controller?
