4TB MyCloud suddenly died - just after warranty expired

A few weeks after the warranty expired, my 4TB MyCloud stopped working, and couldn’t access the device. After providing WD the details, they informed me the drive was irreparable and there was nothing they would do to resolve my dead drive dilemma.
Connecting power directly to the HDD’s power connection didn’t help, the motor didn’t respond. Cleaning the contacts between the pcboard and the drive’s contacts also was fruitless.
Has anyone been able to determine if it’s the drive’s pcboard or the drive’s DC motor?
I would really like to either fix the issue or worst case, recover my data from the drive.
