3tb my book essential as a network drive for pc and mac

I just purchased a my book essential 3tb, and would like to plug it into my router as a network drive and read/write with both my pc and mac.  Any suggestions on how to make this happen?

If the router has an USB port chances are you will be able to use it as network drive

check with the router manufacturer to see what file system and capacity is supported on the router

this is not a network drive but some people have been able to use it like that
