2007 My Book E 320GB -can I still use this?

320GB My Book E Model WD32000037, bought 10/2007.
Not used in years. 224.2GB free.
Migrating to new laptop, and want to backup old laptop data to this external drive.
The Backup tab is disabled, and a window opens saying upgrade to WD SmartWare Pro req’d.
Running SmartWare Version 2.4.16, and apparently Smartware Pro support ended 12/01/20.
Also found Data Lifeguard Diagnostic was discontinued 10/01/21 and replaced w/WD Dashboard.

Has WD effectively disabled this model?
Appears that manual backup still possible, by copying files from Windows Explorer to My Book E.

For this 17YO model, the WD website said support has ended and to come here for Q’s.

I decided to simply copy/paste to backup files to this external drive manually, which worked.
Therefore, consider that my “solution”, and won’t waste more time troubleshooting what is apparently outdated software.
