1TB WD Elements small portable Drive

The above drive has gone into uninitiated status as shown in Computer management- disk management. I tried to initiate the drive but it come up with “X-  the media is Write Protected”   do’s anyone know how to remove Write Protect 

so I can initiate the Drive ? on either Toshiba laptop windows 7 or a HP  pc running Vista

I would suggest a deep disk erase by means of a low-level format using Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Microsoft Windows, as detailed in the following link:
