1TB My Book external drive (Silver) connection problems on my wife's iMac

Hi,

I recently disconnected my wife’s My Book 1TB ext drive from her iMac to plug my own drive in to copy some files onto her iMac.

When I replugged her drive back in, her iMac no longer can recognize her drive. I have tested her ext drive onto my own Macbook Pro and it reads fine.

Could it be her firewire 800 plug is defected? Or is there a way to make it connect to her computer again?

I tried every way of connecting and to no avail. I feel really guilty now that she can’t access her own data from her computer.

Can someone suggest what I can do?? I tried disk utility and nothing shows up on her iMac.

Since there’s been no replies, maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

The work around was to unplug all the cables of the imac and as well the WD. Miraculously it worked!!!
