basically the drive has to wind up (i can hear it) on random occasions and it stalls my iMac.  i won’t even be using data from the drive… simply navigating to this site, my mac stalled (got the spinning beach ball) right as the external decided to wind up.  otherwise the computer is fine and has no issues with the other external i’m also using (seagate)
