I recently purchased a HGST Ultrastar He10 10TB 7200 RPM SAS and was under the assumption it would work on my 6gb Dell perc H200 controller. Worked with it for days and never could get it to recognize neither in windows or the raid control panel. I then purchased a 12gb Adaptec 8405 controller and am having the exact same problem. Occasionally it will pop up in device manager but can’t populate volumes and doesnt show up in disk management at all. When it soes show in device manager I can see it in Adaptec’s Storage Manager but can’t do anything with it. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated. Maybe I just have a bad (new) drive.
Am i correct this drive should work on a 6gb controller other than not running at it’s full potential?
yes it should. i have a lsi 2208 based raid card and it sees these just fine . down them to 6gb link. the only difference for me is i first low level formatted to 4k instead of 512 to match my current huh7210104204 4k drives
