i have / had a 1 TB My book external hard drive, unfortunatley my ktten knocked it off the desk and it broke the USB connector on the board inside. i removed it from the case and plugged it directly into my PC as a SATA drive (ive done this before with a seagate and worked fine) how ever my bios recognises it my drive manager recognizes it but says its unallocated is there a way to save this drive as i have alot of photos and bits and peices ive collected over the years that are impossible to replace please dont tell me i should have backed them up as i had a PC crash and this was the back up
First if this drive came with Smartware it’s hardware encrypted. Second since the drive was knocked off the desk it’s probably physically damaged beyond do yourself recovery. you can try soldring the USB port back on or try finding another board on Ebay.
