WD My Cloud app NAS recycle bin problem

On the WD Cloud Mirror 2x2 TB I have enabled the recycle bin on all shares, just in case if some accidently deletes a file or folder. Under Windows 7 the NAS recycle bin works fine.

When a file or folder gets deleted via the WD My Cloud app, nothing will be moved to the recycle bin.

The data will be deleted directly. Is this a limitation of the app?

Yes.   As far as I know, the NAS Recycle bin only operates with Samba-based mounts.

I don’t know about AFP (Apple)-based mounts.

But the Cloud App uses direct API calls which do not use Samba.

Thanks for the reply and confirmation. The app for IOS and Andriod does indeed not support the SMB protocol.

I hope that WD add the SMB protocol in the future.

For the Andriod I have installed the  ES File Explorer  and for the IOS I found an other free app with SMB support.
