v2.3 released: WDTVHubGen - Looks up Movies, TV Shows and creates XML for the Hub

As such this application now throws an exception when you try to look up a movie.

Any chance that support for v3 of the moviedb api?

I use this application every day.

Me too

This has been great software. us it daily as well. Hopefully there is a fix soon

Probably best to add your voice at the website for this program.

Anyone knows of release schedule for new API?

A visit to the website shows API will be released “tonight” but it has been there for at least three days.

Is thumbgen still working ?

Is it working good for wdtv ?

Best to keep an eye on the website link I posted.

please, please make it work again! I use this tool very often and i love it for its easy usage. The usability of WDTVHubGen is MUCH MUCH better then that of thumbgen! and i would be very sad if i had to be forced to fall back to thumbgen.

Thumbgen isn’t working either so don’t get your panties in a bunch. It’s The Movie Database changing the app these guys use in their software and until they update the software, not much is going to work properly. So hang tight, it probably won’t be long and the world will be right again.

As a temporary fix for Thumbgen I have been using “Blu-Ray.com” as the main collector, removing TMDB, and it works reasonably well. Though in TG is indicates that  blu-ray.com does not pull from IMDB, I am getting that data including user stars etc. It will always give you the blu-ray cover and some films do not have any F1 art, but both the cover and the fanart can be pulled from your local drive if you download it first from a search engine. I use google with the images tab and can always find a cover and a decently scaled pic or two for my linksheet. This wont work for a lot of movies, assuming ones that have not made it to Blu-Ray, but has worked out okay for 5 or so that I have needed Linksheets for.

Hope it helps for those who cannot waiit until this is solved

Hey all, sorry for the down time, I am working to fix it, but I’m also traveling to Australia today for a few weeks, I’ll work on it on the plane, but hopefully I’ll have it fixed soon

thumbgen is also not working ??

Hi,

I am Currently using ‘WDTVHubGen.v2.1.1.stable’, however for past 2-3 months I am unable to use it as it gives me an error when I search for movie. Below are the details on the error and OS.

Troubleshooting steps tried:

1- Trired on other computer, same error

2- Windows Firewall fine not stopping anything

3- .net letest version that comes with Win8

OS: Windows 8 Enterprise 64 Bit (Worked fine earlier)

Error: The remote Server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

Detail:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I too have the error, it only started occuring for me within the last month. It’s a major impact for me because I find thumbgen to be wayyy slower, and I can’t get it to generate xml files despite changing the settings to do so.

I can’t use the inbuilt auto searcher on the SMP because it seems to fall over on 1 file (which is a task in its own right identifying which one it is), and then gives up finding the rest. Very mysterious. Hub Gen is by far the fastest, easiest, and most practical program. I like how it previews the movie poster when you need to make a choice between a few films with similar titles. Fingers crossed it gets fixed.

EDIT - I’ve just noticed v 2.1.6 on the right hand side of the HubGen official page. My mistake. I’ve now used v 2.1.6, and it’s working! I got a couple errors here and there, and it crashed once, but it’s processed hundreds of files flawlessly. While I’m here, I would like to thank the developer for creating something very straight forward and fast!

Cheers

Thanks to u for sharing your fix and thanks to the  developers for everything they’ve contributed through their talent & experties!!!

First I want to say how much this program is appreciated. It does exactly what I need.

That being said, I have run into a recurring error (using 2.0, 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.6). If I just launch the program, it works fine but if I click on the “Options” tab and then back to the “Video” tab I get the following error:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I have this same problem on two different Windows 8 64-bit systems and a Windows Server Essentials R2 server. Also tested on a Windows XP system with same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was getting the error too, but if I run as administrator, then I don’t get the error.

Try it, you never know it may work.  Right click on the program file and select “Run as Administrator”

So I moved from EMM to this since it seems to do a better job for WDTV

I figured out most of the settings but have one option I can’t figure out.

It appears that the generated XML includes a title name I’m not happy with. I tried to change it but it reverts back to the default.

My original file name is

Camp - s01e01 - Pilot.mkv

XML lists as and shown on WDTV

Camp [01x01] - Pilot

I like instead, the way the WDTV internal scraper creates the XML name

Camp Season 1 - 1 Pilot

Can the title be changed to user choice? I tried to edit in settings but it reverts back to default.

It appears anything under TEMPLATES can not be changed.

if you are making changes in templates (which is where you want to make these changes) and that is where you would change this, then the directory you are in doesn’t allow you to “write” anything.  if after you make a change to the template and move/clikc the mouse outside of that area, the new template should bold to show it changed, at that moment the new file has been written (config file).  try restarting the app after that and see if the changes take effect.  If they do not, let me know, but the single biggest reason config changes dont “stick” is the directory you unzipped the application into doesnt have permissions to write that file.

Jeff

Any attempt to make changes in shaded area in image below results in it going back to default.

I try restarting program but it does not hold. I was going to edit the actual WDTVHubGen.exe.config file but did not want to do something that made the software inoperable.

WDTV619 wrote:

Simple, then make a copy of the config file first and store it in another folder. Make your changes directly to the config file in the program folder. If you stuff it up, then just put the copy that you made back into the program folder.

While that’s a fair suggestion, I do not know what it may affect on the other files.

I just rather not mess with a config file unless I get an OK from the creator.
