Unable to stream file

I have a file that will play fine connected to USB but tells me it is not supported if I try to stream it. I saw some previous posts about formats that aren’t supported (eg FLAC) but I might not have used the right search or read the right results to figure out why this one won’t stream. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Usign a Gen3 with the December 2013 firmware.

Hello unphased, from where are you trying to stream the files? Network share or a Media server?

Sorry Ichigo, I certainly should have included that information in my first post. I’m using the Media server option.

I’m trying to stream the file from a Windows 7 machine and enabled media streaming in Windows Media Player (I followed some posts here for installing the mkv splitter and used a .reg file so that MKVs appear as video not “other media”).

Hello unphased,

i have exactly the same issue, with Windows media player i can’t stream .mkv files. Try to use another media server, for example Mezzmo. For me it works fine… I hope it helps:smiley:

If it can help

I also had some problems with .mkv files not working, even from USB disk. I can stream them without problem using Serviio free DLNA server.
