Request Official WD Response

I disagree. I prefer the simplicity of the original GUI.

The G.U.I. on both the HUB and Live Streaming is not complex at all, but rather simple and better laid out.

Hey, just curious about how that Beta firmware you allegedly have is working out for you? You know, the one you posted about, insinuating that you had and were testing, etc etc etc.

It’s the firmware that people have been asking about for 9-ish months.

Just thought I would ask you, since you seem to have all sorts of inside info, contacts, and play golf with the WD people and stuff … I may be WAY off, and I may have jumped to conclusions from the 1-line posts about how the firmware was being developed, and the last “official” note from Bill_S from over a month ago was a solid (and this is a quote) “Other than that, I have no idea.   Sorry…”

So … how’s that firmware working on your Live?

Is it really fixes problems involved by 1.06.15 or as usual bring lots of another funny problems?

Haven’t experienced any new bugs but not all have been fixed yet. What has been fixed is PGS subs that I do care about a lot.

I understood there was to be a new update to WDTV Live in Australia that would allow access to ABC iView.  ( http://www.abc.net.au/iview/ ).

Is this in the works?

There is an update but it only applies to the latest Live Streaming player.

I’d suggest that, after 9+ months (and I remember well when it was ‘end of January, for sure this time’ from Bill), we’ve been abandoned with a half-baked, poorly implemented product. Bill appears to have gone silent here, despite vague protests about it being ‘almost ready for release’.

It’s some consolation (or perhaps schadenfreude), that the other WD product forums are also full of users complaining about firmware (re)errors.

I bought a Pivos aios BTW, and I adore it. It isn’t without some small issues, but it’s significantly faster than my WDTV, it plays everything I throw at it, plays nicely with my NAS and just does everything better than my WDTV.

So long WD, you let me down.

I’m not silent, I just don’t have anything to add.  And, yes, I feel your pain.

No, you don’t. Lier…!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Will you be adding Netflix support for WD TV Live devices, when Netflix arrives to Norway?

Will Spotify be added to the Live device?

I guess the big event Bill says is waited for is actualy that we all give up.

I believe your chances of seeing Jesus appear would be greater than compared to this so-called new firmware.

Maybe that’s the big event they’re waiting for… the Second Coming that is!

We are 9 months past my original post.  Come on WD / Bill.  Either tell us it’s over and that this product is EOL or release the final FW.

There’s already been two firmware updates you didn’t know that? One is the 1TB HUB, and the other is the Live Streaming.

It is not a FW update…it’s a HW upgrade. Try something else from another brand.

Well, excuse my sarcasm, but this is the way I see it.

I’ve bought both for other family members.  And I must say that all the added graphics and services just kill the performance and simplicty of the Live.

If any other player came close to the simple yet useful features of the Live I’d buy it in a second.  The only thing close is ATV.  But, no NAS streaming and no Pandora app ='s no sale.

So, the Live lives on for me!
