Passport Ultra says "user items cannot be modified" when I try to move a file in

I have backed up my macbook once already with my passport ultra but today I tried to move a few files in, and it says items cannot be modified? 

It offers a button to “authenticate” but when I click it, it does nothing.

Help please! :slight_smile:

Does this happen when you copy from the computer to the drive, or the other way around?
