I am pulling BLACK MAMBA

18 hr work days, I wish mine were that short.  Mine are running into 2 day work days with about 3 hrs sleep between.

That’s why I haven’t had time to work on any theme projects.  But when you are your own boss that’s the way it goes.

I’ve been there not so long ago, you can try to sleep but it isn’t working especially when you have a creative job, you dream about your designs… wake up… and sleeping further seems like a waste of time so you get up regardless what time it is.

My main business is fading with my fading looks (30yo now), lol so I had to get into new stuff but there is no way i can run 2.5 businesses by mself and expect them to be 100% in shape, I hired people for my main bread & butter job and in my 2nd job I have reduced the work load to what is necessary, which is the job where the DeVicious name was invented (designing fashion for virtual worlds such as Second Life) turns out with a bit more brains and some economical skills you can save 3-4 hours a day there.

Ah…well I beg to differ in this case. I just created these about 30 mins ago with the way I explained

So I have this on the outer folders

http://s17.postimage.org/ckgoasfxr/WDTVLive_Hub_2012_04_12_20_37_22.jpg

And inside each season

http://s16.postimage.org/48pxj8ez9/WDTVLive_Hub_2012_04_12_20_39_42.jpg (episodes messed up…grr)

The reason why I do this is because I go to the effort of using Thumbs with Bluray covers for each episode, so I like to keep that theme for the main folders

that’s okay (for the seasons) if you actually care for the source cover, I PVR all my stuff on a HDD connected to the TV, i don’t need covers in my case it wouldn’t suit the situation.

Yayyy fixed the problem.

Changed the marquee “y” from 448 to 700 and all is well :). Thanks Tinwarble for pointing me in the right direction.

@WDTVHUB

change the line on top to

<listbox valkey=“browselist” move=“row” cols=“5” rows=“1” lbmask=“lr” loop_scroll=“1” turbo_trigger=“10” turbo_multi=“10” autoenter=“1” fixed_scrolling_col=“3” hormove=“1” />

(this will start scrolling to the next cover when the after your selection is in the middle (on cover 3) it will add 1 cover per click to the right)

<listbox valkey=“browselist” move=“row” cols=“5” rows=“1” lbmask=“lr” loop_scroll=“1” turbo_trigger=“10” turbo_multi=“10” autoenter=“1” fixed_scrolling_col=“5” hormove=“1” />

or use this to only scroll to the right after the 5th cover

Nice thanks.

  1. why using movie thumbs for that if you can check the EXTRA THUMBNAIL which creates the folder.jpg
  1. about the series thumb that is a really good idea, i am not sure if I would use it for myself but I will definately do it

it should not be done exactly like the genre covers (can’t be done) but i know how it could work, after all these shows usually have covers that capture the series quite well, one should not destroy that. I will send you a beta version when I have it.> * * *

well i knew if i asked long enough i must hit on a reasonable/good idea. lol

When i say Movie Thumbs, i mean the template this is so it creates the a different (enought) looking cover compared to what i get from the TV Thumb, and it looks cool having a Cover around the image.

but like you say 2)… a better more designed centric for season covers would be much preferable something enough to signify this Cover is a FOLDER not an actually video.

It something i doing quickly, but ideally it would be nice to do this for all my main Shows.

so here’s a quick example

here you see first 2 are folders, CSI and THE Killings the others are actual videos.

and here are the CSI Episodes…

so ideally a nice, template that can be used to create pretty Thumbs for the toplevel Show Folder, and then for each season folder… but different enough to not confuse from the current TV Thumbs

ps… wdtv… i do like you TV Thumbs… i was thinking for putting the episode name at the bottom instead of the show time.

Mmmm quite like this. The film you select now pops up…

@ Kazgor

initially I understood that you were looking for a series thumbnail. (Series = Show… not the Season)

You many have noticed or not that the good people from TVDB already provde handmade season covers…

In your screenshot that would be Glee and The Ringer… All these Season infos with the bar are exclusively made by the TVDB and once the Bluray is out there will be the official cover as well.

I think this is quite comfortable already but  there is one particular thumbnail that is not generated, it is the one for the show itself, for the show’s parent folder. I always fashion them manually and this is the one where a template would come in very handy. You don’t want it to look like a season, you want to capture the show. All my Show covers differ a lot from the season covers. However I would always want the official season cover for each season for the same reasons I want a proper movie cover for my movies, it makes me virtually open the Bluray box

DeVi… thats exactly correct… i want a cover for the SHOW… and then a cover for each season based on the Seasons number… pretty much like how CSI is show… if i had Season 9 it would be use the Season 9 cover. but i was hoping they might be a nicer way to show the Season x covers (and main show) other than just using the Movie Thumb Template…

so i was thinking it a single template but its used for the the SHOW Folder and also for the Season Folders, the main difference is the image we use.

can you post an example Show thumb you use as a example.

This is how I would do it…

Main Folder

http://s14.postimage.org/wdh412nw1/WDTVLive_Hub_2012_04_13_09_01_47.jpg

Season Folders

http://s15.postimage.org/z2f2v7u17/WDTVLive_Hub_2012_04_13_09_02_04.jpg

Friends is quite easy to do this way. TG grabs multiple season and random pictures. So its very easy to do all these from 1 instance of TG by using manual save, then picture change for each folder. The season names are not all the same on screen but all the pictures are there to match in TG, I just did it quickly on dummy folders to show how it would look.

I am not sure but i think we are still talking about two different things when it comes to season thumbs

I tell you why i would never ever touch the season thumb. The networks release unified covers for each season that match perfectly when you put them next to each other. Adding something to it is redundant and adding the source cover is douchy because i have shows like Entourage with SDTV, DVD, Bluray and HDTV sources, why would I mess up.

the season overview with 3 different elements i don’t care about? Any other info is completely redundant since everything is on the official cover release or a fan art cover and I have way too many shows that doing thumbnails for each season is more work as serving the purpose.

Now to the season thumbs…

I am actually quite happy with what i get from TVDB but it could actually make sense to give them a unified look by a frame design that can be done in manual mode. Having said that it could also look extremely stupid since basically everything important is on the cover already and I am not sure if putting a red bar with the show name somewhere makes ANY sense since the name is on the cover already and finding a good placement for the bar without making the cover too small or mess with the proportions is close to impossible. I will try it because it could work but be aware that I am way too time management focused to spend hours on a task that is redundant.

What WDTVHub shows was the base idea… although i agree with DeVi i dont really need the main covers to have say DVD/Bluray… just something to make it Standout so its not  just a flat poster image.

I like how you doing the Episode Thumbs… that bit fine and dandy  and has you saw from my screenshot i do get Season Covers (eg CSI) so that bit is fine… but i am currently using the Movie Template so it makes the Season Cover less flat.

I did think but like you i also agree having the RED BAR sayin SEASON X is silly…

So something that makes it look uniformed (as you say), so something that can wrap around the covers to make them appear less flat so they stand out nicely on your Theme and also imply This is a FOLDER come inside to see what Seasons are here.

anyway… just a thought… and i really don’t mind doing it Manaul Mode… actually find it works better than Auto/semi mode anyway.

thanks… oh about TimeManagement… we had a course on this last week… the tutor ran late… oh how we joked!!

This is logically inconsistent on too many levels for me.

  1. I have 7 Seasons of Friends in HD and 3 seasons as DVD-Rip

the source cover is supposed to give you a clue about the quality and the source, I can’t make 1 source cover for a show with multiple sources. That is would confirm an OCD for covers if my brain would allow me to accept this
2) Due to multiple sources i would get a different look between the DVD and HD seasons, In September they will release the first 3 season on Bluray… “Colors Much?” The season covers released by FOX are absolutely perfect and nothing more is needed because they are generated automatically

  1. All shows base their cover release on the shows “CI” look and for me there is no good reason to mess with it, spend time with it and to do make something worse that is perfectly fine.

yeah i agree with you 100%, something to take off the flat look would do the job and if it is just a reflection effect, but adding something to it is probably not going to work and i wouldn’t know what to add… it’s friends I know what’s inside

If you select your Moviethumb it defaults to a glass overlay. So easily acheived with what you have created

Folder

Seasons

that’s what I was thinking in my response to Kazgor

this should be automatically generated as spare movie sheet as folder.jpg

no necessesity to run over it again

I agree this is why I am stopping this kind of menu in V1.4 and go back to real button, changing backgrounds is nice but design can never dominate functionality. Don’t downgrade I will update within the next 2 days.

Or you can use a different trick and keep the backgrounds & have the functionality too.

If you don’t mind, PM me and tell me what you’re doing.  What I’m thinking might be different from what your thinking and what I have in mind doesn’t really change things that much.
