hi
i have 2tb wd my book essential formatted for mac …my mac is now broke…my windows laptop knows the wd is plugged in but wont let me into the files any ideas on a way round this without losing my data…

Unfortunately this is expected behavior. Windows does not support and is not normally compatible with the Mac OS HFS+ file system, which results in unreadable Mac hard drives when connected back to Windows. If you connect the hard drive to another Mac then you should be able to see your files. Another alternative is to install a Mac/HFS+ reader application in Windows.
