Firmware WD20EARS

Hello, after a controller card change on a hard drive WD20EARS, my hard drive is not detected, apparently its firmware which would be the cause ???

Even with the same controller model may have a different revision and firmware, which may be incompatible with the hard drive. This is the reason as to why Western Digital does not offer controller/logic board replacements. Firmware revisions for this hard drive are not provided by Western Digital either.

WD PCBs store unique, drive specific, “adaptive” information in serial flash memory, either in a discrete 8-pin chip at location U12, or embedded within the Marvell MCU. These “adaptives” need to be transferred from patient to donor. Some PCB suppliers include such a service at no extra charge. The most you should pay is US$50.
