Driveunlcok.app doesn't work with OSX Lion

It may be just me, but I find WD Smartware soooo confusing and frustrating…

I’d like to use my Passports for Mac without installing WD Smartware as it clashes with TimeMachine, somehow (a known problem on Mac forums).

But, when I try to use the Driveunlcok.app (off the virtual CD on the drives) it always crashes.  So I cannot use my drives.  (I cannot find a Lion update for the Driveunlcok.app.)

Ideally I’d like to be able to unlock my drives without installing WD Smartware app.

If that’s not possible I’d like to take all WD stuff off the drives and use them like any other.

Any ideas or suggestions?

It DOES work on Lion.

Have you had the passport for a long time?

I don’t have Smartware installed on mine but I did installed to see if something will be different…

The app worked both ways : with or without Smartware.

Try this :

Backup all data on the drive.

Update the firmware and install the latest version of Smartware ( just for this time )

Uninstall the software from your Mac and then see if you still have the same issue
