Cannot update software (server always unavailable)

I can’t use my new WD MyPassport ultra, since it won’t work with Mavericks on the Mac (partitioning isn’t an option in the native disk utility software on the Mac).  WD software won’t update since the server is always unavailable.  What do I do???

Try formatting the drive again following the instrucions from the link above.
