Okay so i have been reading alot of posts about this same issues and iv tried some things, i was just wondering if anything new has been tried by others. I am running windown 7 but have been for quite some time so i doubt that would be the problem.
More describtion about my problem, My passport was working a months ago, i went on leave (im in the military so im talking my two week leave from deployment) and came back wanted to watch a movie plugged it in, it made the plug and play noise, but doesnt show up under my computer, this is what i have tried and got nothing.
* Unplugging and plugging it back in.
* Hard Restart on lap top
* Jiggles the cords
* Uninstalled hardware and reinstalled it from WD website.
* Tried Firm ware update and nothing happened
* I downloaded the USB Device Viewer and this is what i got

* tried pluggin it into other computers and wont be regonized by them
* I do not have a PC with me so cant try that and everyone here runs windows 7 so cant try that.
New problem as of 9nov2011, after i plug it in and leave it for about 5 min, led light will start blinking and the autoplay box will come up but…it will say searching for content and after a few sec the LED light will stay solid, and the plug and play sounds go off and autoplay goes away and can not see it under “my computer anymore”, while its showing autoplay i can see the hard drive with its lable under my computer.
Any help would be much appreciated this is my second WD Passport the firt one was a accedent by me i dropeed it and yea bad juju, but i would like to keep this hard drive as it has all my movies and tv series on it, my only entertainment besides internet and gym over here so help please!
