Been using WD MyBookLive since forever and have never really been satisfied with either its physical performance, the MBL Dashboard software UI design and performance, or the unintuitive configuration parameters. Most disappointing is WD dropping old products from its new firmware developments, a classic case of forced redundancy with no backward compatibility that doesn’t make any friends in customer land.
Having said that, it appears to work to about 75% of my expectations and, after so many years of using it, I’ve now resorted to AOMEI and Macrium as my system backup tools, relegating the MBL to being just a (slow) LAN disk array.
I’ll certainly be better informed in my next NAS purchase and will probably steer clear of WD.
