Yet another desktop app issue

Desktop app would announce it was “locked” and not accept any passwords, until suddenly one day it did accept one. 

It then went back to its previous problematic behaviour - at every startup it would announce a new version of the software was available (IIRC from xxxx.34 to xxxx.37), I would say yes to downloading this, it would never complete. It cannot be uninstalled nor reinstalled because there is a “package problem”.

I’ve downloaded the desktop app from both the WD site and through the app - same problem both places. Is the software on the WD site really not the most recent version ?
