Do all primary and/or with slave hard drives require the pin set up on the back of the drive? I am using XP SATA and the 500GB WD hard drive.
There is no master or slave setting you’d configure on an SATA drive as its one drive per port. I’m not sure what else could be wrong with it. If you’re using XP its possible your system is old enough to only support 1.5Gbs SATA. In which case you’d want to set the jumper to enable that option.
Also, is the drive showing up on boot or in the BIOS?
