I am using a My Book Premium Edition II on a Win 7 PC with no problems. I would like to move it to an Win XP PC, but the XP Found New Hardware wizard cannot find a USB driver and will not install it. Other USB devices work fine on this PC. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this.
USB drivers comes built-in the OS, if Windows XP is not able to detect the drive properly make sure that you have installed SP3, and any recent update for XP.
The problem is now fixed. I determined that the correct driver is USBSTOR.SYS in the windows\system32\drivers folder. Armed with this info I tried again, prepared to navigate to this driver. However this time XP found it on it’s own.
