Write Protect WD Element 1023

Hi,

I am currently having issue with an Element 1023 drive. My problem is there’s alot of data on the drive that I need to access.

What happens is the following:

The drive shows in device manger but I can’t access the drive through my computer, in computer mangement under disk management I cannot initialize the disk gives a write protection error.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Diskpart:

Disk shows but cannot do anything on the disk, I get a write protect error.

  • WD Smartware

Doesn’t show the drive in smartware

-Linux Boot CD

Cannot even see the drive

  • Data Recovery

Cannot do anything cause of the write protection

I’ve tried it on different computer but get the exact same on every computer.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using the drive on a MAC?

Did you used an specific software to protect the drive?

The WD elements comes completly empty with no software on it and it’s completly wierd that is showing write protected unless the drive is corrupted.
