Word doc secured with a password

So I have a Word document (docx) I use for passwords and itself is protected by a password. When uploaded to the WD MyCloud and attempted to be opened via an iPad or iPhone I get this error: 

      The operation couldn’t be completed. (OfficeImportErrorDomain error 912)

Any ideas if there is a fix for this?

PS-This same file loads up in DropBox just fine. Meaning it asks for the password and if entered correct the contents of the Word Doc are presented.

A cursory search through Google suggests this might be a limitation of the viewer implementation on iOS, and or issues with jail-broken iOS.

I have a legit ipad device, plus my comment about it working on DropBox should show that this is not an IOS issue.
