WM MyCloudDL4100 Problem to see the share files in

Hello,
I can see and enter the admin web console.
How ever, I cannot enter the shared folders,

What can be the problem ?

Eran

Microsoft or Apple?
Web File manager app or SAMBA or Apple File system?

If the shares are not Public then do the users have sufficient permissions to at lead read the contents of a share.

When requesting assistance, please provide accurate information otherwise whoever will be trying to help will have to reply on assumptions.

Hello,
microsoft windows.

I can see the WDMycloud Dl4100 under network. How ever, right click and choose “open” does nothing.
Moreover, trying to connect using " 192.XXX.XXX.XXX\share" gives an error message

any idea ?

What is the wording of the error message?
Windows operating system or OSx operating system?

the mycloud gets a good IP adress and we can see it on the router as well

the message is "windows cannot access " and it displays the path for the share directory

is this message can give a direction for the problem ?

from command prompt :

nbtstat -a \WDMYCLOUDDL4100

Local Area Connection:
Node IpAddress: [192.168.1.108] Scope Id:

Host not found.

Is the share you are trying to access is configured for public access?

yes

Try: nbtstat -a WDMYCLOUDDL4100 and nbtstat -a WDMYCLOUDDL4100.local

C:\Users\EranF>nbtstat -a WDMYCLOUDDL4100

Local Area Connection:
Node IpAddress: [192.168.1.108] Scope Id:

       NetBIOS Remote Machine Name Table

   Name Type Status
---------------------------------------------
WDMYCLOUDDL4100<00> UNIQUE Registered
WDMYCLOUDDL4100<03> UNIQUE Registered
WDMYCLOUDDL4100<20> UNIQUE Registered
WORKGROUP <00> GROUP Registered
WORKGROUP <1E> GROUP Registered

MAC Address = 00-00-00-00-00-00

So there is no problem with finding the IP of NetBIOS name.

On Windows Explorer’s address bar (not Internet explorer!) does this access the Public share:

\\WDMYCLOUDDL4100\Public

No,
“windows cannot access …”

Using the command prompt what error message you get when toy try this command:

NET USE * \\WDMYCLOUDDL4100\Public

Before you do that, go to the service manager and make sure the Workstation service is enabled and set to start automatically.

C:\Users\EranF>NET USE * \WDMYCLOUDDL4100\Public
System error 53 has occurred.

The network path was not found.

The workstation is started?

What if you use the NET USE command, but this time use the IP address of your DL4100 and not its name.

What version of Windows? On the DL4100 have you configured Samba to use at least SMB2?

the workstation service is running

windows 10

C:\Users\EranF>net use 192.168.1.104
System error 67 has occurred.

The network name cannot be found.

Try:

I’m also on Windows 10 and using DL4100 with latest firmware without problems. I’m trying to figure out if it may be something on your computer that is not correctly configured.

I have to go do a task so I’ll come back to this later. Maybe someone else might come up with the solution before I do.

Just a point… Fully shut-down your DL4100 and start it up. Wait about 5 minutes after it’s started it up and try access the Public share using it’s IP address from the computer.

yea, you have to put the whack whack
\ \ 192.168.x.x

open windows explorer and at the top where it says anything type
\ \192.168.1.104 and press enter
