Windows vista will not install on new hard drive

Just purchased the following from dell. Order #[Deleted] This is for a dell laptop Inspiron 1720


320GB SATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive 8MB 5400RPM 2.5IN Scorpio Blue
I am trying to install vista premium. It installs the files, updates, etc but upon reboot to complete the installation it displays " installing...... but never completes.

This does not seems like a drive issue, have you try with another installation disk? or maybe another OS?

What is your install media a pruchased disk or a download you burned?  Or are you using some type of restore set from Dell  It may be a driver issue especially with laptops and Dell products.
