Windows could not complete format

just got myself a new 2tb caviar green hard driver for my desktop computer.

And when I go to format it in computer management it says the format did not complete successfully, I have also tried it using my computer.

My operating system is windows vista 32 bit

yes i am.

i have also checked device manager, and that says it is working fine

below is what i got on computer management (the hitachi) drive is an external drive

c drive is my main hard drive

d: is just a backup partition on the c drive

using the western digital data lifeguard diagnostics on the drive and it has stopped here

Managed to sort it in the end. I used EASEUS Partition Master free edition, and that worked perfectly.

And formatted the hard drive almost straight away.

Have you checked to see if the entire drive is REALLY there. I went through about the same thing, EASEUS says it’s all good, but when I start to fill it up with movies I top out at 1TB. I’m still struggling.
