Windows 8.1 is not recognizing My WD Book Essential

I have 3TB My Book Essential USB 3.0 and I just installed windows 8.1 and I connected my drive into a USB 3.0 port and nothing happened.

My device isn’t showing up on ‘My Computer’ or niether on ‘Device Manager’

I did connected the device to a USB 2 port and he works fine and Windows recognize him but he doesn’t work when I connect it to USB 3.

I downloaded the SES driver while the device was connected to USB 3 but it didn’t help.

When I tried to update the firmware I got the following message:

“disconnect all usb devices (except mouse and keyboard), reconnect only the WD drive you want to update, and then click rescan”.

Thank you.

Hello,

If it was working before the update, I’ll recommend you to search for the drivers for the USB 3.0 ports on the computer.

Search online depending on the manufacturer of your motherboard you should be able to find the drivers for the USB 3.0 ports.
