Windows 7 not recognising caviar blue

I am in the process of putting a computer together and have the following hard drive and motherboard.

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX) [WD5000AAKX] Gigabyte P61-USB3 Intel P61 Chipset (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard B3 REVISION

My problem is that when i try to run the windows 7 installation it soes not recocnise the hard drive and requests a driver. The BIOS confirms it is present. I have also flashed the BIOS to the most recent version.

Any ideas on why this may be happening? And what can be done?

Thank you for any assistance you can give.

What if you zero out the drive and try again? The drivers should be supplied by W7…

thank you for the comment

i’m afraid i’m not sure what “zero out” means, could you explain and i’ll give it a go

thanks again for your time

To zero out the drive would be a full-wipe low-level format, you can use WD’s  DLG for this but you’ll need to either run it on another computer with Windows loaded or burn the bootable disc.

Thank you. It’s taken 4 days and numerous messages on forums and to manufacturers but it’s now up and running.

Much obliged.
