Re: Windows 7 EXTREMELY SLOW BOOT when either WD SHARESPACE units missing from ETHERNET NETWORK
Hi
(hadware: my Win 7 Ultimate PC x64 Intel)
I have 2 external WD shaespace RAID systems (master and backup).
a) If I boot without one or both WD drives (connected via ethernet via a switch) then my Windows 7 will take around 30minutes to present the login screen
b) If I boot with drives on and on the network it boots in 30 seconds
c) If I boot wihout a WD drive (either one turned off) and let the PC try and start and wait for a few minutes … then turn on the ‘,issing’ wd drive, windows 7 starts very quickly after I run on the WD drive.
Anyone have any idea what is causing this, I assume it is something to do with a service/driver installed on the windows PC?
I want to keep one WD drive off the network most of the time for security reasons - but I can’t!
Any suggestetions or help appreciated.
(I see the last update for WD pc sopftware was back in 2011 !)
